Advise????

Postby lynn103 » Wed May 10, 2017 5:32 am

I don't know if this is the right board to post this on, but I have REALLY bad acne. I try to practice good hygiene, and I wash my face every night, but it's still really bad. Any suggestions?? Thanks.

How is your water intake and your diet? That plays a role and you're a teen so hormones are all crazy right now.

I do fairly well on my water intake. I've been working on drinking a lot more. My diet is mostly good. I try to eat only Organic and somewhat healthy stuff. (I'm not saying I'm perfect though...) I also wear glasses. Could that have something to do with it??

Hello! I've had acne for 6 years starting the age of 13. My face is clear now, since I'm on medication (Accutane) but let me tell you that your acne isn't about bad diet or water or anything. I mean sure, you need to maintain a healthy diet, drink water and avoid makeup so your acne doesn't get worse but your acne is just a part of puberty. I have oily skin, and I'm a blondie with freckles lol so you can imagine the redness and scars I had to go through the past six years. It's all hormones girl! I've tried benxzoyl peroxide, it dries out your skin and btw I did see improvement when I used it (prescribed so visit your derm first). I tried honey masks (ew), tea tree oil scrub masks, literally everything. I went on a "healthy diet" so ended up losing weight LOL.

I'm guessing you're about 13-14 and it's completely normal for your skin to breakout. It's your hormones. I know and understand that they affect your self-confidence and self-esteem, and make you feel insecure because I've been there. Please love yourself, that's step number one. Step number 2, visit your derm. You got nothing to lose. It might be a short-time acne problem so visit your derm and they'll know for sure. I HAD to go on accutane cause they weren't going away. I'm 19 now, still on medication and my face is fine, thank god. I had moderate acne though but because I'm blonde, green eyes, freckles... they were really REALLY obvious I mean the redness.. ugh.

Wish you the best🌷🌺🌼🌻🌹🌸

Hormonal problem possibly?
Have you tried a honey/cornmeal face scrub? There are other natural face washes you can make yourself

It very well could be a hormonal imbalance...I suppose that's common for teens...lol
I have tried different face washes, but I'm allergic to some of them. I'll have to try the honey/cornmeal one. Thanks.

I haven't tried honey/cornmeal before. That sounds interesting.

An activated charcoal face mask could also help. Or a plantain weed (not the fruit) face wash.

I didn't think about charcoal! I'll definitely have to try those! Thank you so much!
